Why Kwankwaso, Shekarau alliance failed – APC deputy chairman

Kano state Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Shehu Maigari, has said the alliance between former governors ,Ibrahim Shekarau and Rabiu Kwankwaso, broke down because the duo were not like minds.
He said this on Monday in Kano while speaking to newsmen.

Shekarau recently defected to the APC few weeks after Kwankwaso joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They had initially agreed to work together but Shekarau later kicked, accusing the national leadership of the PDP of sidelining him in favour of Kwankwaso, the Senator representing Kano Central.

Already, Shekarau has obtained nomination form to run for the seat in 2019.

In his reaction, Maigari described the defection of Shekarau to APC from PDP as a blessing to the party and the people of Kano.

He said: “Joining forces between Governor Ganduje and Shekarau is a blessing not only to the APC, Kano people, but also to Nigeria as a whole.

“Politics is a game of belief and ideology and the two politicians shared common beliefs and ideologies.

“I have said it sometime ago that the alliance between Senator Kwankwaso and Shekarau was a Kangaroo one and would not last longer because they differed in beliefs and ideologies.

“I said the latter will never sacrifice his good reputation that built for decades for the former. Now I have been vindicated.

“Shekarau and his supporters returned to a home they actively participated in laying its foundation.

“So, it is not something new, there were in this party before they decamped to the PDP due to some circumstances.”
