====Talented Nigerian Disc Jockey, Desmond Sodamola also known as DJ Spinall has signed a major international record deal with a music label, Atlantic Record in the UK.

The multi-award-winning DJ took to his Instagram page to announce the deal.

He is known for his albums “My Story”, “Ten” and “Dreams”, which were released in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively.

DJ Spinall, who is the first African DJ to tour the United States, did not provide specific information on the nature of the contract with the UK-based record company.

The organisers of the Nigerian Entertainment Awards have announced the nominations for this year’s edition of honours holding in Washington DC on November 10.

The nominees list, which covers over 20 categories, was released on Wednesday, September 12 across various social media platforms.

Leading Nollywood names such as Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Funke Akindele, Adesua Etomi Wellington, Lilian Afegbai, Dakore Akande, Bimbo Ademoye and Lilian Echelon have all bagged nominations in the female category for ‘Best Lead Role in Film.

Femi Adebayo, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Ali Nuhu, Adebayo Salami, Odunlade Adekola, Davido, Wizkid, and Tiwa Savage also made the nominations.

Genevieve Nnaji says the recent acquisition of her directorial debut, ”Lion Heart” by American film sharing site, Netflix, is a vindication of the local movie industry, Nollywood.

Speaking on BBC’s Newsday programme, the actress shared her excitement following the successful premiere of Lion Heart at the recent Toronto International Film Festival, and its purchase by Netflix, making it the first original film from Nigeria to be on the platform.

Forbes has officially announced its most anticipated list of the top 20 highest paid hip-hop acts for 2018.

The list was released and for the first time in three years, there was a new name at the top of the list, with Jay-Z taking over from Diddy, who has topped the list in the last two years.

The third spot is occupied by Kendrick Lamar, who clocked the highest earnings of his career with the success of the Top Dawg Entertainment tour, with Drake coming in at No 4.

The 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards nomination are out with Drake leading this year’s selections as he notched an impressive 11 nods.

Following the release of his double album, Scorpion, Drake has earned nods for ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘MVP of the Year,’ and ‘Sweet 16, among others.

Rapper, Cardi B, follows closely with an impressive 10 nominations off the success of her debut release, Invasion of Privacy, while Childish Gambino, with 6 nominations, gets the third highest nominations.

The 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards will take place at The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Fleason Theatre on October 6th.
