Suspected killer of Ondo female model remanded in prison
The suspected killer of Oluwaseun Ajila, the 20-year-old Ondo model who was reportedly raped and strangulated to death has been remanded in prison custody by a court sitting in Akure.
Ebenezer Adejumola who was alleged to have killed Oluwaseun was ordered to be remanded at the Olukuta Medium Prison, Akure by Magistrate Yakub.
The magistrate on Monday adjourned the case to the 22nd of January, 2018 when the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP is expected to advise the court on the case.
The charge sheet with number MAK/No/451c read that, “That you Adejumola Ebenezer Olumide ‘m’, on the 4th of October 2018, between 1705hrs and 1910hrs, at Labake Street, beside Kabafat Nursery and Primary School, Abusoro, Akure, in Ondo State Magisterial District, did kill one Ajila Oluwaseun ‘f’ age 20yrs, by strangulating and stabbing her with kitchen knife which resulted in her death, and thereby committed an offence, contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal, Cap 37,vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
“Count II: That you Adejumola Ebenezer Olumide ‘m’, on same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did rape on Ajila Oluwaseun ‘f’ age 20yrs, and thereby committed an offence, contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the Criminal, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.”
Earlier, the state prosecution counsel, Adebayo Ayorinde had appealed to the court that the case should be adjourned pending the outcome of the investigation by the police.
Citing section 269 administration of Criminal Justice, Ondo State laws, Ayorinde further told the court that the accused should be remanded in prison custody.
The defence counsel, Abdulrahman Yusuf also agreed that the case be adjourned.
It would be recalled that few weeks ago Ebenezer Adejumola was arrested by the men of the Ondo Police Command after he was reported to have raped and killed his girlfriend, Oluwaseun Ajila in her mother’s house in Ijoka area of Akure, Ondo State.
