St Gregory’s Old Boys reach out to patients in FCT hospital
The St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association, Abuja Chapter, has donated provisions to patients at Daughters of Charity, St. Vincent De Paul Hospital, Kubwa, Abuja.
Items donated were pampers, disinfectants, detergents, toiletries, cotton wool, plasters, syringes, among others.
Making the donations, the Chairman, Abuja Chapter Chairman of the association, Chief Tom Nwakalo-Imu, said the old boys believed that they were privileged to have attended and benefited from one the best colleges in Nigeria.
Nwakalo-Imu, said therefore, that the association considered giving back to the school and society as its core value.
According to him, in the last ten years, Abuja-based members of the association meet every last Saturday of the month to deliberate on how to support and give back to the society.
“We embark on charity work and contribute money to support those in needs among us and the society.
“Every December, the association visits prisons, orphanages or hospitals to support those that are critically in need,’’ he said.
A staff nurse in the hospital, Joyce Nwachukwu, who received the donations on behalf of the patients thanked the members of the association for the gesture.
She prayed that God would replenish their pockets in folds.
Nwachukwu urged other associations to emulate St Gregory’s in doing charity work.
She said there were so many patients in the hospital that were desirous of assistance from the public as most times staff of the hospital contributed money from their salaries to support patients that were in dire need.
