Real Madrid vs CSK Moscow: Why Isco turned down Marcelo’s captaincy offer during Champions League clash

Real Madrid vice-captain, Marcelo has disclosed why fellow teammate, Isco turned down captaincy offer during Los Blancos’ Champions League defeat by CSK Moscow on Wednesday night.

Madrid were humiliated 3-0 in front of their home fans by CSK Moscow at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Three goals from Fyodor Chalov, Georgi Shchennikov and Arnor Sigurdsson ensured the Russian side defeated the Champions League holders.

Marcelo, who attempted to pass on the captaincy armband to Isco after he was substituted, said the midfielder told him to give it to Dani Carvajal.

“I tried to give the armband to Isco and he told me that I had to give it to Carvajal, why I do not know,” Marcelo said, according to Marca.

Real Madrid will now tackle Rayo Vallecano on Saturday in the La Liga fixture in their next match
