The police in Kaduna state have arrested a former chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited (PAN) Sani Dauda for giving out his daughter, Nasiba in marriage.

Equally arrested along with Dauda who is also the Chairman of ASD motors, was the judge of Magan jingari Sharia court in Kaduna north local government area, Murtala Nasir who consummated the marriage held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 and Shehu Dauda, one of the sons of Alhaji Sani Dauda..

The three of them were arrested on Monday, November 11, and are being detained at the Special Anti Robbery Squad office of the Kaduna state police command .

According to lawyer to the accused persons, Sani Katu, the arrest of the accused persons was allegedly masterminded by former husband of Nasiba Dauda, one Abubakar Musa Abubakar who claimed to be a close associate of the Inspector general of police , Abubakar Adamu.

He said that Abubakar, who was not happy with the second marriage between Nasiba Sani Dauda and her new husband, boasted that he wiiuse his connection with the Inspector general of police to deal with whoever was involved in the consummation of the marriage.

The Sharia court judge however, explained that they were arrested for conducting a new marriage between Abdulllahi Kaluma and Nasiba Sani Dauda , the daughter of Alhaji Sani Dauda on Saturday, November 9, 2019, after her first marriage with Abubakar Musa Abubakar from Kebbi state was officially collapsed on 5th January , 2018.

He explained that the marriage followed due process in line with Islamic laws and the Nigerian Constitution ..

On his part , Alhaji Sani Dauda explained that he gave out his daughter to her new husband after she had officially divorced her first husband, Abubakar Musa Abubakar since January 2018.

He explained that Abubakar who claimed to have a close relationship with the IGP , vowed to deal with him even when there was an existing divorce certificate between him and his daughter Nasiba dated 5th January 2018.

” The marriage between Nasiba, the daughter of Alhaji Sani Dauda, the chairman of ASD motors and her former husband, Abubakar Musa Abubakar ended since January 5,2018. And since then, there was no problem, or was there any existing order restraining her or her family from conducting a new marriage .
So, on Saturday, November 9, I conducted a new marriage between Nasiba and her new husband, Abdullahi kullama.

Surprisingly, on Monday November 11, at about 4pm, I was with Alhaji Sani Dauda and many others at his compound when police operatives surrounded his compound, saying they were there to arrest us on the order of rhw inspector general of police, Abubakar Adamu.

The officers invited us verbally to the police command headquarters without any warrant of arrest.
Later on , we transfered to the Special Anti Robbery Squad office, where we were detained allegedly on the orders of the Inspector general of police until further notice”.

As at 6am on Tuesday morning, both Sani Dauda and the Sharia court judge were still detained at the Special anti Robbery Squad office with family relations pushing for their prompt release.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer.(PPRO), Kaduna State Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo as at time of filing this report proved abortive as he failed to pick calls to his mobile line, or reply message sent to his WhatsApp account.
