Champions League: Michael Owen predicts Man United vs Juventus, others

Former Real Madrid and England striker, Michael Owen has predicted Manchester United and Juventus to play a draw when both teams clash at Old Trafford in the Champions League fixture tonight.

He also tipped Liverpool to beat Red Star Belgrade during Wednesday’s Champions League fixture.

Owen told BetVictor: “These great clubs have met 12 previous times in European competition with both teams having five previous wins to their name.

“I think the points will be shared at Old Trafford in what promises to be a cracker.

“United have not conceded in the Champions League so far this season, but Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in both his previous appearances against United in the competition and Jose Mourinho’s side will do well to keep the Italians at arm’s length at Old Trafford.

“Paul Pogba is also playing against his former club – for the first time – and he has had a hand in all three United goals in the CL so far this term.”

On Liverpool’s game against Red Star, he added, “Crevena Zvezda have only won one of their last eight games in European competition -excluding qualifiers – and Liverpool are taken to gain a comprehensive win and put behind the loss in Naples on Matchday two.

“The Reds – excluding qualifiers – are unbeaten in their last 16 home games in Europe and have scored 39 times in the process. After what was a functional win at Huddersfield at the weekend, I take the Reds to return to their fluent best against the Serbs.”

The kick-off time for Manchester United vs Juventus game is 8pm, while that of Liverpool vs Red Star Belgrade is also 8pm.
