ANN NEC dismisses Sept. 29 convention, fixes Oct. 3 for presidential primary
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) has dismissed as dubious the national convention of the party held in Abuja on September 29 to elect the party’s presidential candidate.
The party said after a meeting at the Bon Hotel Stratton that the convention for the election of a presidential candidate has only just been fixed for Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at a venue to be announced shortly in Abuja.
The leaders called on “ANN members and the public to either ignore anyone parading himself or herself as its presidential aspirant.”
may have failed with the withdrawal of 19 out of the 26 state chapters of the party.
However, Olawepo-Hashim yesterday said he had not withdrawn from the presidential race.
He said: “I am in the race. I have only pulled out of the hurried convention of the ANN fixed for today, Saturday, purportedly to elect the presidential candidate. I am still in the race for 2019 by the special grace of God.”
