Lil Wayne finally releases long awaited “Tha Carter V”
Lil Wayne has finally delivered on his promise with the release of the long awaited ”Tha Carter V” and it turns out to be worth the wait.
Six years after it was first mentioned and a dozen of projects in between, the fifth instalment in the series, ”Tha Carter V” was delivered on his birthday, packing fire, passion, lyrical acrobatics plus wit, a totality of all we have come to know Lil Wayne for.
The 23 track project parades a number of collaborations that include XXXTentacion, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Reginae Carter, Snoop Dogg among others.
Meanwhile Davido and Phyno are set to hit us with a new jam just before the end of the year.
Phyno posted a tweet indicating that he had completed work on a record with Davido.
The duo had worked together on the song ‘Secret Agenda’ off DJ Neptune’s ”Greatness” album released earlier in the year.
Both Phyno and Davido are working on their upcoming albums with Phyno recently putting out the single ‘Iwa’ which features Tekno, with the visuals expected to follow on October 5.
There is no hint as to when the song is expected to be released yet, but the pair may just be planning to steal the charts for the remainder of 2018.
Also, LadiPoe has released his track list ahead of the official release of his debut album scheduled for October.
The Mavin artist enjoys a cult following from the hip-hop community, with many seeing him as the ‘saviour of rap.’
On February 28 2017, he got signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, which generated a major buzz among his fans as it was rare to see a rapper pen a deal with one of the biggest labels in the land.
But since joining the label, there were some agitations as he was no longer releasing music like he did in the past as he underwent his development stage with the label.
His announcement that the album was finally on its way, has sparked renewed excitement among his online following.
The album titled ”Talk about Poe”, contains 10 tracks and will feature some familiar names that have worked with him in the past like Ghost of Show Dem Camp, Funbi and Sir Dauda.
Other contributors to the album include Ghanaian singer Efya, Seyi Shay and Tems.
On the fashion scene, Nigerian contemporary menswear brand, Clemas Couture brightened up the runway during the Durban Fashion Fair 2018 with rainbow hues for its S/S 19 menswear collection named “Rainbow”.
The fashion brand broke out of the traditional outfit frame of mind by producing uniquely seamed shirts which intend to lend an effortlessly simplified appearance to formal or informal look.
The Rainbow collection is due for release in Accra Ghana later this month and will be available to the public in limited quantity in November in Lagos and in Durban, South Africa, later in December 2018.
Meanwhile, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has been honoured by the United Nations as one of the 100 most influential people of African descent.
The award-winning actress announced the good news via her Instagram page, saying “Honoured to be one of the Most Influential 100 People of African Descent at the United Nations by @mipad100,”
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde isn’t the only Nigerian celebrity on the list as the likes of Davido, D’banj, Dakore Egbuson, Yemi Alade, Stella Damasus and Falz also made it.
The award ceremony, which took place between September 23 and October 3, 2018 in New York, was held following the opening of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly.
