SDP fixes date for national convention, screening of aspirants

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Monday disclosed that its National Convention will now hold on October 6.

SDP National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Alfa Mohammed said this in a statement in Abuja saying, that electioneering activities would kick-start with the screening of the Senate and House of Representatives aspirants simultaneously on September 27.

It would be recalled that the party had earlier fixed September 21, 23, 24, 2018 for nomination of aspirants for House of Assembly and House of Reps respectively following the demand by many aspirants for extra time to put their acts together.

Mohammed also pointed out that, “the Primary elections for the state House of Assemblies, Senate and House of Representatives will commence on September 28.”

Part of the statement reads, “Appeal for all primary elections has been fixed for September 29, 2018, while screening of Governorship aspirants commences September 30, 2018.

“The Governorship primaries and appeal for governorship primaries holds October 1 and 2 respectively.”

However, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Hon. Emeka Atuma has enjoined all state chairmen and aspirants to be fully prepared and ensure hitch-free screening and primary elections in their states.
