Lagos APC: Call off your show of violence – Senator Ashafa warns Osinowo
The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the Senate, Gbenga Ashafa has warned a Lagos State House of Assembly lawmaker, Bayo Osinowo to call his supporters to order following violence unleashed on voters during the House of Representatives and Senatorial primary elections of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos.
Ashafa gave the warning in a statement signed by his media aide, Ayodele Adio, on Thursday.
There were several reports that thugs and hoodlums allegedly sympathetic to Osinowo were running riot in Kosofe area.
He said: “It has become imperative for all men of good conscience to call Hon. Osinowo to order by immediately calling off this brazen show of violence being witnessed in the Kosofe Axis.
“At Kosofe Ward F in Ikosi Ketu, it took the intervention of the Nigerian Police force to restore the semblance of order after thugs wearing caps and insignia of Hon Bayo Osinowo “Pepper” started shooting sporadically and brandishing cutlasses to scare away party members. This was also the case in Agboyi Ward F and other places.
“For the past 7 and a half years, Lagos East has always been a peaceful district and has held intra party elections without violence or harassment of party members and officials.
“Consequently, Senator Ashafa hereby requests all security agencies to immediately restore peace in the affected areas.
“Senator Ashafa also enjoins his supporters to remain calm and peaceful as the affirmation process has been overwhelmingly in his favor in Epe, Ikorodu, Ibeju Lekki and Shomolu/Bariga axis of the district,” he said.
