Champions League: Michael Owen predicts club that will win trophy

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen has predicted the club that will win the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League trophy.

According to Owen, Liverpool or Manchester City will win the Champions League this season, stressing that the English sides are “here to stay” in the biggest European topflight competition.

Liverpool defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on Tuesday night in their Champions League opener.

Owen was impressed with Jurgen Klopp’s men and thinks they can go all the way this season, having reached the final campaign.

“They [Liverpool] are tailor-made for Europe, playing brilliant in the Premier League,” Owen told told BT Sport.

“I am sure they are going to win a trophy this year.

“Our (England’s) teams are really at it,” Owen said, adding that “I really fancy two teams this year, either Manchester City or Liverpool to win the Champions League.

“I really think it’s going to be an English team. I think we (English teams) will be here to stay for a long period of time as well.”
