Champions League: Ex-Manchester United’s Rafael, Depay mock Man City after 2-1 loss to Lyon

Former Manchester United stars, Memphis Depay and Rafael have trolled Manchester City after Lyon’s shock Champions League victory at the Etihad.

Manchester City’s European campaign got off on a poor note Wednesday evening as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

Maxwell Cornet scored in the 26 minutes for the visitors after midfielder Fabian Delph failed to intercept Nabil Fekir’s cross.

City found themselves two goals behind before half-time as Fekir beat goalkeeper Ederson from 25 yards.

However, a 67th-minute goal from Bernardo Silva pulled one back for the hosts, City.

The shock defeat ensured City became the second English side to lose three consecutive home Champions League matches.

Following the defeat, former stars of Manchester rivals, United, Depay and Rafael, who are now with Lyon, reminded the Citizens that they still have a long way to go.

Both aimed digs at Manchester City after Lyon’s fine win in Group F of the Champions League.

On Instagram, Depay – who spent two years at Old Trafford before joining Lyon in 2017 – wrote “Manchester is still red.”

Rafael, was the last player off the pitch for Lyon, told Sky Sports, “It’s a very good feeling – I never lose here! I’m very happy.

“Everybody knows I’m a United supporter so it’s very good to come here and win!”
