Shocking reactions trail news of a Nigerian student who allegedly raped another student as she watched a movie in his room

A 20-year-old Nigerian Student, Chukwuebuka Onyekachukwu Igwilo, was charged with first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape, false imprisonment and first- and second-degree assault in Maryland, U.S.

According to reports, around 3:30 p.m. a woman went over to her friend’s apartment to watch a movie and during the movie, the friend, Igwilo, started to sexually assault her.

She told him no, but he continued, said Baltimore County Police Officer Jennifer Peach.

“During the course of that movie he began to make sexual advances toward her which she rebuked,” Peach said. “He continued to the point when he held her down and raped her.”

The news was shared on Facebook and the reactions from some Facebook users were shocking. A number of them said the rape was justified because the female student went to Igwilo’s room. Others asked what she was wearing when she went there and what kind of “vibes” she gave off while there.
