Following the recent anti-Igbo moves and hate speech on social media to bring division between Ndigbo people and Yoruba people in Lagos,  the Secretary, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos State Chief Everest Ozonweke has described the inflammatory anti Igbo speech as the hand work of mischief makers who have lost touch with the realities on ground. He also advised them to verify facts before publishing as this could cause a rift between the people.

Ohaneze-Ndigbo

Chief Ozonweke stated this in a release made available to media that the governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Akinwumi Ambode is the governor of everybody in Lagos State and has in all time demonstrated this in his words and action. He also stated that the infrastructure and social development of the government is nondiscriminatory and noted that the recent overwhelming reception given to members of Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos chapter by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu at Iga-Idungaran palace when he hosted them was enough evidence to prove that relations between Ndigbo and Lagos State is quite cordial and profoundly improved.

He thanked the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and strategy. Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan for his prompt act in debunking the anti-Igbo while calling on Ndigbo to be true ambassadors of wherever they may reside in Nigeria and Lagos in particular and not to associate themselves in any act that will tarnish the good image of Ndigbo in Lagos.
