2019: Senator Girei cautions APC over Adamawa crisis

The Senator representing Adamawa Central, Sen. Abubakar Halilu Girei has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend the alleged impunity by Governor Mohammed Jibrilla in Adamawa All Progressive Congress (APC) or the party will not win the 2019 elections in the state.

The Senator made this call while describing the indirect primaries recently adopted by the State Governor as a sham, a tragedy, a travesty of predetermined verdict that will not last.

Girei, who rejected the introduction of the indirect primaries by the SEC of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, said that the exercise was shambolic and fraudulent.

He told Independent “if President Buhari did not halt the drift by APC in Adamawa State he should forget the state because APC under Bindow can’t win a single Local Government Area for him”.

He also condemned the claim of insecurity under which the governor hide to implement his decision.

“The so-called SEC meeting which Governor Bindow and his cronies summoned at Government House under tight security, demanding the conduct of indirect primaries on the excuse that Adamawa was not safe was to say the least preposterous.

“The President and National chairman of APC should discountenance such appeal because it is anti people as many party faithfuls including the statutory delegates were not invited.”
