EPL: Mourinho reveals who will play penalties for Man Utd after Pogba’s miss against Burnley
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho is insisting that midfielder, Paul Pogba, will continue to take penalties for the club despite his miss against Burnley on Sunday in the Premier League.
Pogba’s spot kick was easily saved by Burnley goalkeeper, Joe Hart.
Two goals from striker, Romelu Lukaku ensured victory for Mourinho’s men at the Turf Moor Stadium.
Asked during post-match press conference if Pogba would take the next spot kick for United, Mourinho replied: “If he wants, yes.”
TeamTalk quoted him as saying further, “The thinking is he is a very good penalty taker and likes the responsibility of it and he is first choice.
“Of course, we have second or third choices in case [the player is] not confident or some reason doesn’t want to take.
“But he was ready and of course he trained lots of penalties during the World Cup because it’s something, in a competition like that, every player trains a lot and he was very confident,” Mourinho said.
