El-Rufai, Bagudu, Ekere emerge as APC guber candidates for Kaduna, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the state to become the party’s candidate for the 2019 general election. The Committee Chairman for the party’s gubernatorial primary committee in the state, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, declared El-Rufai elected as a sole contender in the primaries.

El-Rufai, who described his endorsement as a “vote of confidence to continue the work of delivering progressive outcomes for our people,” called for unity among all APC members to ensure massive victory in the 2019 general elections.

Also, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has emerged unopposed as APC governorship candidate. Bagudu was announced as the party’s candidate by Prof. Monday Osunbor who led the APC governorship primary election committee from Abuja after 3,818 delegates from the 21 local councils of the state in affirmation voted him at the Township Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.

The governor, who thanked the delegates for the confidence they reposed in him, promised to go on with the good work started by his administration if voted to power in the coming elections. In a related development, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Obong Nsima Ekere, has been declared winner of the APC governorship candidate for 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom State.

He polled 160,458 votes to emerge the winner while the other three, Mr. Dan Abia, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe and Dr. Edet Efretuei, scored 4,189 votes, 2,015 votes and 1, 234 votes respectively.

The result was announced at the APC state secretariat along Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, the state capital, by the Chairman of APC nine-man national committee that conducted the primary, Mr. Yamah Momoh. Ekere commended members of the panel for conducting transparent primary, saying he is humble to be nominated by the members of the party in the state to fly the flag of the party come 2019 general elections.“It is my honour to accept the nomination; it is a victory of APC in Akwa Ibom State. I dedicate it to all members of the party in the 329 wards in the state.
