Champions League: Manchester City’s Brian Kidd predicts club to win trophy this season

Manchester United assistant manager, Brian Kidd, has predicted that the club will win the Champions League this season.

Kidd won the European Cup with Manchester United in 1968, scoring on his 19th birthday in their memorable 4-1 win over Benfica at Wembley.

He said he was convinced City will do the same.

Manchester City are playing their eighth European top club competition this season, having reached one semi-final, one quarter-final and three last-16 rounds.

Express Sports quoted Kidd as saying “The club [Manchester City] will definitely win it.

“They’ve got the manager and the players. You need luck but with the set-up here, there’s a manager that’s done it and players that are good enough and hungry enough.

“They’re a young group as well. Everything is set up for success.”

Kidd, who worked under both Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini at the club is the only Englishman in Pep Guardiola’s coaching team.
