The resolution to meet with governors was reached yesterday at an extra-ordinary FEC session presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The expanded session is expected to further collate inputs from NEC, which comprises all serving state governors.

While organised labour and Federal Government officials settled for N30,000 as the minimum pay, there had been no agreement on the source of funds to meet the wage increment.

Specifically, some state governors had insisted that they could not pay the proposed new wage unless the Federation Account Allocation formula is reviewed to give more earnings to states.

Prior to when the National Tripartite Committee headed by former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ama Pepple, presented its recommendations to the executive, the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) had said they could only afford to pay N22,500.
