Community leader tasks Minister over contentious land
As the dispute over the land between Abeugborodo and Ureju community continues, a community leader in Warri, Delta State, Sir Emmanuel Ejewino has appealed to the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu to use his good offices to direct the management of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC to abide by the standards laid down by the Federal Government and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC over the ongoing NPDC Benin River operations at Gbetiokun in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State by relying on the various litigation maps to ascertain the true owners of the land.
According to Sir. Ejewino; ‘’Gbetiokun and Ureju communities are prepared to tender certified true copies of litigation map number TJM 1780 CS2/78 substituted CS1/102 ECBS/218/82 and B/GA1315/76 and not mere judgement of court and also the map of Warri North. Oroke is far removed from Gbetiokun, where the operation is taking place. We are law abiding people.’’
