The Ohanaeze Youth Council Worldwide has expressed sadness over the reported arrest of some female members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

DAILY POST reports that the IPOB had in a press statement on Sunday said the women were arrested when they staged a peaceful protest to demand the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The OYC in a communique issued after its meeting in Enugu demanded to know the whereabouts of the women.

It equally called on the Nigerian Military authorities to be professional as it go along in its planned Operation Python Dance in Igbo land.

The communique signed by Comrade Obinna Achuonye, its Deputy President-General, read: “We condemn vehemently the continuous harassment of women, especially IPOB women who were expressing their displeasure on the whereabouts of some of their arrested members.

“We still remember the Aba women riot of 1929 and call for the respect of all Igbo women anywhere they may reside to avoid a repeat of women riot.

“Ohanaeze Youths will host the First Referendum National Summit on 28/29th September in Owerri and call on Ndigbo to wear black bangles to show their support for the event as from September 1st.

“We urge the Military to restructure their Operation Python Dance, especially by being more friendly than hostile in their operations. While we don’t support illegality, especially from criminals, we want the Nigerian Army to have a human face in dealing with the Igbo in South-East, especially now there’s no civil disturbances or war in our geo-political zone.

“We commend the leadership of all Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth organizations led by Arewa Youth President Alh Yerima Shettima and OYC President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, as we welcome all 250 Ethnic Nationalities Youth organizations in South East, for the National confab by September 2018.”
