PDP slits over guber results, accuses Kwankwaso of imposition
An aspirant for the Kano Central senatorial district, Laila Buhari has rejected the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, which produced Ibrahim Shekarau as winner of the ticket.

Buhari, who spoke with journalists in Kano claimed the election was manipulated in favor of government’s anointed candidate, even as she alleged that the party sacrificed her interest to compensate Shekarau.

But announcing the result for the three senatorial districts at Kano Government House, the presiding officer of APC senatorial primaries, Professor Balarabe Abubakar Jakada said the primaries held across the 484 wards in 44 councils were free, fear and devoid of violence. Shekarau who only recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC scored 973,485 votes to defeat Suleiman Halilu and Buhari who scored 1,001 and 304 respectively.

Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya who represents Kano South district at the National Assembly also defeated Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on House of Representatives matters Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila in the primaries. Gaya scored 1,035,057 against Kawu who pulled 309,209 and Senator Is Zarewa who polled 15,643.

Also, Senator Barau Jibril clinched the Kano North senatorial ticket after former deputy governor Tijani Gwarzo, stepped aside before the primaries. Meanwhile, Chairman of PDP in Kano, Mas’ud Elyakub Doguwa has vowed to challenge the outcome of the PDP governorship primary in Kano.

Doguwa alleged that Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso and his delegates hijacked the primaries to return their anointed candidates. He said only Kwankwaso’s son in-law, Abba Kabiru Yusuf and Ja’afar Bello Sani participated in the primaries as against the claim that the seven aspirants took part in what he described as Kangaroo primaries held in Kwankwaso’s residence. He insisted that the caretaker committee that conducted the primary was illegal, maintaining that the National Working Committee (NWC) should not force any candidate on the party.
