APC primaries: Governorship aspirant rejects result of Akwa Ibom, calls for cancellation

A contestant in the just concluded governorship primaries in Akwa Ibom State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe has totally rejected the result of the elections.

He also appealled to the party’s national working committee to ensure that the election was cancelled.

Addressing a press conference in Uyo after the result was announced, Udoedeghe said the entire process fell short of democratic process.

He insisted that the APC primary election was marred with violence and intimidation of his supporters by his opponents.

He, therefore, called on the National Working Committee of the party to ensure that justice was done to protect the hard-earned democracy.

“I, therefore, use this medium to reject the entire exercise and the purported result for contravening the guidelines for the primary election.

” I appeal to the National Executive Council of the party to cancel the purported election and order for a fresh one.

“The supposed primary elections fell short of all known parameters of modern democracy,” Akpanudoedehe said.

He said that over the years, he had spent his limited resources and time in building the party, stressing that he and his teeming supporters have not been treated fairly.

Recall that the Chairman of the APC Congress Committee for Akwa Ibom, Mr Yamah Momoh, had announced on Monday that Mr Nsima Ekere, won the gubernatorial primaries with 160, 458 votes.

According to Momoh, Akpanudoedehe had polled 2015 votes, Mr Dan Abia polled 4,189 votes while Dr Edet Efretuei polled 1,234 votes.
