A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant, Chief Joshua Mba, has expressed disappointment at President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to sign the amended electoral act.

He spoke on Monday at the PDP secretariat in Enugu, after submitting his nomination form to contest for the Enugu East Senatorial election.

According to him “The reasons given by the president for his refusal to sign the amended electoral act are flimsy and fishy.

“This has given more credence to the speculations going round that he (the President) and his party, the All Progressives Congress does not want the card reader to be captured in our laws.”

Mba called on both chambers of the National Assembly to take the issue as a matter of urgency upon resumption and correct the few ‘errors’ that were identified in order not to deny Nigerians the opportunity of an improved electoral act that will give more credibility to the electoral processes.

He re-assured the party leaders and delegates that he stands a better chance of winning the election if he gets the PDP ticket.

“I make bold to say that a lot of people from our senatorial zone are coming to us on daily basis to show support and enthusiasm towards my aspiration.

“With this kind of massive support, winning the election will be a forgone conclusion if I get the PDP ticket.”
